Warning
This page hosts a beta version of the firmware. This is intended for beta testers only ! Note that beta version might not be stable.
Preliminary steps:
Tips
If you have never done it and want some more guidance beyond these instructions, you can follow the more detailed Update video guide
- Open the back cover of your Pipo using a PZ1 screwdriver.
- ⚠️ DO NOT TRY TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY ⚠️ (removing the battery is not required for the update operation. Also, pulling on the battery cable will break them. The connector is more robust than the cables and can only be removed with appropriate plier and method)
- Locate the two small buttons on the side of the board named reset and boot, they will be needed in the next steps.
- Connect Pipo to your computer with a USB cable (make sure it is not a "charge-only" cable)
- Make sure the Pipo is turned on
- Note that for now, this update method is only supported by a few browsers like Chrome, Edge and Opera.
Update procedure:
Tips
Please be aware that performing an update erases any configuration that you migh have set or saved in the Pipo. It will be reset to factory settings. In case you need to revert to the previous software version, it is always possible to flash the previous one, but you won't retrieve your settings.
Make Pipo enter "upload" mode:
- Click and maintain pushed the boot button
- While doing so:
- turn OFF then ON your Pipo with the sliding power button
- (Alternative: with Pipo ON, click the reset button once and release it - both aproach are equivalent)
- turn OFF then ON your Pipo with the sliding power button
- You can then release the boot button
Then select below which type of Pipo you are updating and click on the version you want to install.
Click the Upload button below
When prompted to select a serial port, select "USB JTAG/serial debug unit ... "
(If not present, that means you are not seeing a Pipo in update mode. Double check or replace your usb cable, and/or repeat the steps to put Pipo in upload mode and try again. There is no driver needed for Pipo)You should then be prompted to choose to install Pipo. Continue with installation.
After the installation is done, reset your Pipo (either by clicking reset button or switch it off then on)
That's all !
You can close back the Pipo cover. ⚠️ Be carefull to properly position the battery and not to pinch the battery cable between the case and the cover (see the video if needed)
